Mifflinburg Kris Kringle Festival!

We had quite and adventure yesterday! We went on an anthropological research trip to the heart of central PA (really we passed through the geographical center of PA) to check out the Mifflinburg Traditional German Christmas celebration. We went with our festival friends and aficionados David, Shawna, and Jinger. We have been to the Boalsburg Memorial Day festival together and we have plans for Punxatauny in Feb. Oh we had so much fun! We all gave the festival a very high rating, mainly because of one Hilby the Skinny German Juggle Boy also known as the Hillbilly Jungle Boy in West Virginia (very funny). His performance really made it a great festival experience. The other great notable things were 1) the roaming partridge in a pair tree (it really moved throughout the festival isles), 2) the Polka band, 3) lots of German sausages (werst), 4) the tinsel queen (really freaky!), and 5) the collectible traditional German prune men. I purchase a Mexican prune man for Simon. Crazy! I thought it was very appropriate for this year. We followed up a great day of festivaling with a trip to the Elk Creek brewery for dinner and some fine beer tasting. The porter won the evening's competition. The best part of the festival was the company.
